Green Initiatives

We've gone Green!

Eastern Connection believes in the value of Corporate Responsibility, and we are dedicated to doing our part to keep our planet healthy and sustainable. Over the past few months we’ve launched several initiatives to help save Earth’s precious resources:

  • Replaced all standard incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent lamps in hub facilities throughout our footprint with high efficiency fluorescent light fixtures.
  • Implemented a Green Workplace Initiative to encourage Eastern Connection employees to conserve resources.
  • IT is in the process of configuring the most efficient Power Saving setting for all devices, to be loaded on every EC Company device
  • Stopped yearly print production of the 85 page Eastern Connection Service Guide, offering it as a PDF download online instead.
  • Altered several company processes to require online forms submittal only, including filing for a claim or credit review.
  • Charge a $3 fee to mail out a hard copy P.O.D. in an effort to convince our customers to view their P.O.D.’s online for free and save paper.
  • Recycle paper and cardboard used in Eastern Connection offices.
  • Supply customers with re-usable sorting bins and bags.
  • Contract with vendors that use green products, like our cleaning material suppliers.
  • Though we are an asset-light company, we’re in the process of negotiating “green” deals with our fleet vendors to provide new hybrid vehicles for Eastern Connection’s Independent Contractors.
  • Motion detecting light sensors have been installed in our warehouses, to automatically shut off lights when there is no-one present, conserving electricity.
  • A focus on heat conservation is emphasized in all of our warehouse locations.
  • Through the implementation of our advanced MC70 Wireless Scanners in the extent of our footprint, paper delivery manifests and paper P.O.D.’s will soon be obsolete at Eastern Connection.
  • Other green initiatives that Eastern Connection is implementing in the near future include online-based invoicing and increased business with “green” vendors.
